Welcome to seven days of journaling into the Connected rhythm of a thriving life.
Come to these pages slowly. Receive a breath. Read each day’s reflection without rushing. Let the words settle before you respond. There is no need to prove that you belong or make anything happen. Simply show up honestly, notice who is near you, and write from that place. Let kindness become attention, and attention become room for another person.
The Connected Guiding Narrative
As image-bearers of the Divine, we are connected people—formed for generative, life-giving relationships. We thrive as connected people by practicing intentional kindness and hospitality, and by building trust and respect that sustain community.
Your breath prayer for these seven days
Inhale: God of belonging…
Exhale: …make room in me for others.
Day 1 · Notice
Pause
Let yourself arrive gently. Connection often begins with noticing who is near.
Breath prayer
Inhale: God of belonging…
Exhale: …make room in me for others.
Reflect · John 6:5
Jesus looked up and saw a large crowd coming toward him.
Community begins when someone notices who is near.
Journal
- When did you feel most connected to another person this week?
- Who has helped you feel noticed recently?
- Who in your daily life may be near you, but easy to miss?
Pray
Gracious God, lift my eyes. Help me notice the people you are placing in front of me.
As a child of God, I belong—and I practice belonging with others.
Day 2 · Kindness
Pause
Receive a breath. Let kindness begin with attention.
Breath prayer
Inhale: God of belonging…
Exhale: …make room in me for others.
Reflect · Ephesians 4:32
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted…
Small acts of kindness can become shelter in an ordinary place.
Journal
- When have you experienced a small act of kindness that meant more than the other person may have realized?
- Where did you notice kindness this week?
- What is one simple act of kindness you could offer today?
Pray
God of tenderness, make me gentle enough to notice and brave enough to respond.
As a child of God, I belong—and I practice belonging with others.
Day 3 · Hospitality
Pause
Stay here for a moment. Who might need a little more room?
Breath prayer
Inhale: God of belonging…
Exhale: …make room in me for others.
Reflect · Romans 12:10-13
Love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor… contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers.
Hospitality is not a performance of niceness. It is love making room, honor taking shape, and belonging becoming visible.
Journal
- Who has shown you genuine hospitality? What made you feel welcome?
- What makes it difficult to move beyond familiar people and make room for someone new?
- What is one low-pressure way you could widen the table this week?
Pray
Gracious God, free me from self-protection. Teach me to make room with humility and warmth.
As a child of God, I belong—and I practice belonging with others.
Day 4 · Trust
Pause
Trust often grows slowly, through the steady practice of showing up.
Breath prayer
Inhale: God of belonging…
Exhale: …make room in me for others.
Reflect · Proverbs 17:17, The Message
Friends love through all kinds of weather, and families stick together in all kinds of trouble.
Trust is built not by impressing one another, but by showing up with steady love.
Journal
- Tell about a person who makes you feel safe, seen, or at home. What is it about them?
- What helps build trust in relationships?
- Where in your life do you sense trust growing, thinning, or needing repair?
Pray
God of steadiness, help me become trustworthy in word, presence, and care.
As a child of God, I belong—and I practice belonging with others.
Day 5 · Respect
Pause
Receive a breath. Let another person’s dignity come into view.
Breath prayer
Inhale: God of belonging…
Exhale: …make room in me for others.
Reflect · Philippians 2:3–4
In humility regard others as better than yourselves. Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others.
Respect honors another person’s worth without diminishing our own.
Journal
- What tends to erode respect in relationships?
- When have you felt genuinely honored or listened to?
- Where might God be inviting you to replace assumption with curiosity?
Pray
Holy One, teach me to honor the image of God in others, especially when it would be easier not to.
As a child of God, I belong—and I practice belonging with others.
Day 6 · Community
Pause
Receive a breath. Remember a moment when an ordinary place became shelter.
Breath prayer
Inhale: God of belonging…
Exhale: …make room in me for others.
Reflect · 1 Corinthians 12:26
If one member suffers, all suffer together with it; if one member is honored, all rejoice together with it.
Community is what happens when people gather around one another instead of turning away.
Journal
- When have you seen people become shelter for someone else?
- When have others gathered around you in a hard moment?
- What helps turn an ordinary place into a place of belonging?
Pray
Gracious God, make me a person through whom others feel less alone.
As a child of God, I belong—and I practice belonging with others.
Day 7 · Nothing Lost
Pause
Receive a breath. Return to this week with gratitude. Notice who has been gathered into your awareness, and who may still be waiting to be seen.
Breath prayer
Inhale: God of belonging…
Exhale: …make room in me for others.
Reflect · John 6:12
Gather up the fragments left over, so that nothing may be lost.
Connected living keeps widening the table so people know they are not meant to be left out or left behind.
Journal
- What have you noticed over these seven days?
- Who feels more visible to you now?
- What one simple practice of connection do you want to carry into the coming week?
- Write a one-sentence intention for the week ahead: This week, I will…
Pray
God of belonging, help me cross rooms, learn names, make space, and widen the table with kindness and courage.
As a child of God, I belong—and I practice belonging with others.
