Welcome to seven days of journaling into the Present rhythm of a thriving life.
Come to these pages slowly. Receive a breath. Read each day’s reflection without rushing. Let the words settle before you respond. There is no need to fix or force anything. Simply return—again and again—to the life that is actually here. Let your attention become an act of love. Let this time be a small practice of being here, now, available.
The Present Guiding Narrative
As image-bearers of the Divine, we are people of Presence—learning to be fully alive to the gift of the here and now. We thrive in the present by practicing rhythms of sabbath: creating margin, welcoming silence, listening deeply, honoring thin places when they appear, and immersing ourselves in what this moment has to teach. Presence gathers what distraction scatters, giving us richness in the ordinary, clarity in the complex, and a quiet centeredness that helps life unfold.
Your breath prayer for these seven days
Inhale: Here I am…
Exhale: …here, now, available.
Day 1 · Here and Now
Pause
Let yourself arrive gently. There is no need to force or get this moment right. You are invited to inhabit it.
Breath prayer
Inhale: Here I am…
Exhale: …here, now, available.
Reflect · Luke 10:41–42
Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things; there is need of only one thing.
Presence begins when what is scattered is gently gathered into the life directly before us.
Journal
- Where do you feel most scattered right now?
- What usually pulls you away from the life you are actually living?
- What is asking for your full attention today?
Pray
Gracious God, gather what distraction scatters in me. Help me return to this moment with honesty and peace.
As a child of God, I am here—now—available.
Day 2 · Sabbath
Pause
Receive a breath. Let yourself slow down enough to arrive.
Breath prayer
Inhale: Here I am…
Exhale: …here, now, available.
Reflect · Mark 6:31
Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while.
Sabbath is not escape from life. It is a return to life at a human pace.
Journal
- Where in your life do you most need rest right now?
- Where has hurry been shaping your days more than presence has?
- What would one small sabbath practice look like for you this week?
Pray
God of rest, loosen the grip of hurry in me and teach me how to dwell within my days.
As a child of God, I am here—now—available.
Day 3 · Margin
Pause
Receive a breath. Notice what feels crowded, cramped, or overfull.
Breath prayer
Inhale: Here I am…
Exhale: …here, now, available.
Reflect · Luke 5:16
As often as possible Jesus withdrew to out-of-the-way places for prayer.
Margin is not wasted space. It is room enough for the soul to breathe.
Journal
- Where does your life feel too full to be fully lived?
- What has been crowding out attention, prayer, or rest?
- Where is the “red X” on your map—the place or practice that helps you find your way back?
Pray
Gracious God, create margin in my days and quiet in my soul.
As a child of God, I am here—now—available.
Day 4 · Silence
Pause
Stay still for a moment. Let silence do its quiet work.
Breath prayer
Inhale: Here I am…
Exhale: …here, now, available.
Reflect · 1 Kings 19:11-12
…and after the fire a sound of sheer silence.
Silence does not empty the moment. It makes room to hear what noise has covered over.
Journal
- What noise most easily scatters you these days?
- What might you be avoiding by staying surrounded by sound?
- When have you known silence not as emptiness, but as steadiness?
Pray
Holy One, welcome me into the silence that steadies and heals.
As a child of God, I am here—now—available.
Day 5 · Listening
Pause
Receive a breath. Let someone else’s voice matter more than your next response.
Breath prayer
Inhale: Here I am…
Exhale: …here, now, available.
Reflect · Luke 10:39
She sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to what he was saying.
Deep listening is one way we offer our most honest presence.
Journal
- When has someone given you their full attention? What made that moment meaningful?
- What tends to keep you from listening deeply—hurry, anxiety, devices, rehearsing your response, defensiveness?
- Who in your life needs your listening more than your advice right now?
Pray
Gracious God, teach me to listen with patience, humility, and love.
As a child of God, I am here—now—available.
Day 6 · Thin Places
Pause
Receive a breath. Remember a place or moment when the ground felt holy.
Breath prayer
Inhale: Here I am…
Exhale: …here, now, available.
Reflect · Exodus 3:5
Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.
Thin places are often ordinary places suddenly alive with holy nearness.
Journal
- Have you known a thin place—a setting or moment where God felt especially near?
- What helped you notice it?
- How might you honor such moments instead of rushing past them?
Pray
God of holy ground, awaken me to the places where grace feels near.
As a child of God, I am here—now—available.
Day 7 · Available
Pause
Receive a breath. Return to this week with gratitude. Notice what has gathered, and what is asking for your presence now.
Breath prayer
Inhale: Here I am…
Exhale: …here, now, available.
Reflect · Isaiah 6:8
Here am I; send me!
Presence ripens into availability—the willingness to stay, listen, and respond.
Journal
- What have you noticed over these seven days?
- Where do you sense more clarity, more quiet centeredness, or more courage to stay?
- What moment, relationship, grief, joy, or responsibility is asking you not to skim past it, but to immerse yourself in it?
- Write a one-sentence intention for the coming week: This week, I will…
Pray
Gracious God, teach me the holiness of right now. Help me return, stay, listen, and offer my attention as love.
As a child of God, I am here—now—available.
